Summary of Cover and Certificate of Insurance

IMPORTANT DOCUMENT - Please keep in a safe place

Public liability and personal accident insurance is included with Junior, ChampionPlus and Family Membership of World Horse Welfare. Here is a summary of the cover together with the main exclusions.

World Horse Welfare is an appointed representative of South Essex Insurance Brokers Limited which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority in respect of insurance mediation activities only.

Definition of Family Member

Up to two adults (spouse/permanent companion) and any dependent children up to the age of 18 years old (or up to 25 years old if in full time education) at inception of the insurance, all living at the same address in the UK.

SECTION 1

Cover, Features, Benefits and exceptions of the Public Liability Insurance

 

Type of insurance and cover

Public Liability cover for your legal liability in respect of accidental third party Bodily Injury and Property Damage for any person who holds a current/paid up Junior Champion Plus, Champion Plus or Family Champion Plus Membership of World Horse Welfare. The cover is extended to any person given the member’s permission to use the member’s horse and any groom employed by the member in connection with the member’s horse.

Features and benefits

  1. Accidental bodily injury to any person other than any other member of the Member’s family or household.
  2. Accidental loss of or damage to property other than property belonging to or in the care, custody or control of the Member or member of the Member’s family or household or a person in their service.

Happening anywhere in the world (except the USA and Canada) arising out of the Member’s use and/or ownership and/or control of a Horse(s) or Horse Drawn vehicles(s) and direct participation by the Member in other horse related activities of a non business nature.

Limit of Indemnity £10,000,000 in respect of any one claim. Cover is provided for Members normally domiciled in the UK, Isle of Man, the Channel islands, Republic of Ireland or at bases of Her Majesty’s Forces Overseas.

Unusual exclusions or limitations

  • Bodily injury or loss of or damage to Property arising out of or incidental to any profession, occupation or business of the Insured, other than in respect of the Grooms extension
  • Punitive or Exemplary damages
  • Employee Cover
  • Horse Racing, Point to Pointing
  • Use of a Horse or Horse drawn vehicle for Hire and Reward
  • Mechanically propelled vehicles, aircraft and watercraft
  • Deliberate acts or omission
  • The first £250 of any claim arising from property damage

Conditions applicable to Section 1

This policy will be in excess of and not contribute to any other available insurance.

SECTION 2

Cover, Features, Benefits and exceptions of the Personal Accident Insurance

 

Type of insurance and cover

PROVIDES COVER FOR ACCIDENTAL DEATH, LOSS OF LIMB OR SIGHT AND PERMANENT TOTAL DISABLEMENT ONLY

Features and benefits
Bodily injury to the member arising from a horse related accident.

Scale of Benefits

Accidental death - £15,000

Total and irrecoverable Loss of two limbs - £15,000

Total and irrecoverable Loss of one limb - £15,000

Total and irrecoverable Loss of two eyes - £15,000

Total and irrecoverable Loss of one eye - £15,000

Total and irrecoverable Loss of one limb and one eye - £15,000

Permanent total disablemen - £15,000

Unusual exclusions or limitations
Cover in respect of Accidental Death is limited to £ 5,000 in respect of persons under the age of 16 or over the age of 75.

GENERAL CONDITIONS APPLICABLE TO SECTIONS 1 & 2

 

Period of insurance
Twelve consecutive months only from the time of attachment per individual ChampionPlus member of World Horse Welfare.

Your right to cancel
This is a group policy provided by the World Horse Welfare as part of your membership benefits. As such, there is no facility to cancel the policy should you decide that you do not require the cover.

Claims Procedure
If you are involved in an accident that could lead to a claim on your World Horse Welfare insurance please contact the following:

For any Liability claims/incidents please call 01708 850000. For any Personal Accident claims/incidents please call 0845 838 4713. Do not under any circumstances admit responsibility, either verbally or in writing. Do not offer or promise payment for any damage to the claimant’s vehicle or property or as compensation for injury - if you do, you may invalidate your insurance cover.

Complaints procedure
World Horse Welfare, South Essex Insurance Brokers Limited and Other insurers place the highest priority on resolving any instances of client dissatisfaction. We will therefore seek to resolve any complaints received in the shortest timescale possible. In instances where detailed investigation has to take place, we will acknowledge receipt of your complaint within 5 business days. Within this we will also provide clear time scales as to when next contact will be made and/or resolution proposed.

Where we decide that redress is appropriate, we will look to provide fair compensation for any service failure we are responsible for.

In circumstances where your complaint needs to be referred to the insurers, we shall advise you where this is the case.

All referrals to the FOS must take place within 6 months of the date of your last correspondence from us.

Your rights
Your rights as a customer to take legal action remain unaffected by the existence or use of any complaint procedures referred to above. However, the Financial Ombudsman Services will not adjudicate on any cases where litigation has commenced.

Compensation

RSA and Other insurers are members of the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS). This scheme provides compensation in case any of its members go out of business or into liquidation and are unable to meet any valid claim under its policies. You may be entitled to compensation from the scheme if we cannot meet our obligations.

This depends on the type of business and the circumstances of the claim. The first £2,000 of a claim is protected in full. Above this threshold, 90% of remainder of the claim will be met. For compulsory classes of insurance, 100% of the claim will be met without any upper limit.
