Places to visit
World Horse Welfare currently has four recovery and rehabilitation centres in Britain, from the breathtaking scenery of Royal Deeside in Scotland all the way down to the beautiful rolling hills of Somerset.
These centres are at the heart of World Horse Welfare’s UK welfare strategy of the three Rs - recovery, rehabilitation and rehoming - and between them can house as many as 330 horses at any one time.
Most of the horses coming into these centres will have been neglected or abused; others will have been left to us as part of a legacy.
All horses undergo a thorough check by an experienced team of trained equine professionals, and a long-term action plan is then agreed. It can take months of hard work before they are ready to go out on loan.

Horse Loan Scheme
Our horses are rehomed through the Horse Loan Scheme. We take a lot of time and care to make sure the potential borrower and horse are the perfect match before the horse goes out on loan. If you are interested in taking a World Horse Welfare horse on loan, please visit the Horse Loan Scheme.
Volunteering
If you want to volunteer at one of our centres, please check out our Volunteering page to find out what we can offer and how you can get involved.
