Volunteering

... at our Rescue and Rehoming Centres
Unfortunately, we are unable to accept voluntary help with our horses. Many of them have been mistreated or neglected, which can affect their behaviour - therefore, due to insurance and health and safety restrictions, only employed members of staff are able to work alongside them.
At our centres in Norfolk and Lancashire, volunteers assist the visitor centre staff and give guided tours of the farms. If you would be interested in volunteering in this way, please contact Zoe Clifford on 01253 766983, or by email, for Penny Farm in Lancashire or Maxine Langley on 01953 499102, or by email, for Hall Farm in Norfolk.
Glenda Spooner Farm in Somerset is currently open for a limited hours. Keep an eye on this page, because we'll update you when we are looking to recruit for volunteers for the centre.
... with our overseas operations
World Horse Welfare appoints specialist consultants for each overseas project, determined by the needs of the country that the charity is working in. Due to the specialist nature of this work, and the fact that we do not have the resources to supervise volunteers, we are unable to offer voluntary placements to the public.
... with our field officers
Due to the highly confidential and sometimes dangerous nature of our field officers' work, we are unable to accept voluntary help in this area.
... at events
Volunteers play a key part in helping us to tell others about the work we do. In 2010, we are attending nine events throughout the UK and would love to hear from keen supporters who can help us to reach as many people at the shows as we can.
You need to be confident, outgoing, and enjoy meeting people. You will also need to be prepared for all weathers, because it can get a bit wet out there! In exchange for your hard work, you will learn up-to-date information about the work we do and can say that you have helped us to make a difference to many horses' lives.
