Could you offer a home to a companion?
01/07/2010
Could you offer a home to a non-ridden companion horse or pony from World Horse Welfare? If so then we would love to hear from you.
Our centres in Norfolk, Somerset, Lancashire and Aberdeenshire have companions of all shapes and sizes who are all looking for loving new loan homes. One such horse is Maggie, a beautiful but sensitive 15.3hh chestnut thoroughbred mare with an affectionate nature. She arrived into the care of World Horse Welfare in 2001 as her owner was severely ill and was struggling to cope. Since then Maggie has been out on loan but was returned to World Horse Welfare Glenda Spooner Farm in Somerset earlier this year. Maggie cannot be ridden and is looking for a home as a companion to a retired horse or pony, as she is not keen on being left on her own. Maggie is currently shod in front but could possibly go without shoes if the ground is nice and soft.
Glenda Spooner Farm Centre Manager, Janet Dale says: "It's a real shame that Maggie hasn't found a home as she is a fantastic mare with so much to offer. Unusually for a thoroughbred she is a really good doer and she is happy to live in or out. Please do get in touch if you think you can offer Maggie the home she deserves."
