Coast to Coast2

The Scottish highlands are truly beautiful, and just made for exploring on horseback. The horses are mainly Highlands, Highland crosses and Irish cobs, who are incredibly tough and surefooted.  Using old tracks and drovers' paths, you’ll be crossing some of the wildest country in the UK. Look out for magnificent stags, buzzards, and even golden eagles if you’re lucky!

Dunrobin Castle

You will be able to canter along lovely wide sandy beaches, tread your way carefully through boggy flatlands and climb up over the passes to take in views that will stay with you for a lifetime. This itinerary is unique to World Horse Welfare – you cannot buy it “off the shelf”.

You will need to be physically fit and happy to spend long hours in the saddle, and must be a confident, experienced rider – happy to ride at a faster pace and able to pop over the odd log or ditch if necessary.

Join World Horse Welfare for the trip of a lifetime!

Tibet challenge

Riding local Tibetan mountain horses you will travel through the upland grasslands of Sichuan Province to the rolling hills of the high plateau, where you will be surrounded by the snow capped peaks of the Min Shan and Anye Machin mountains.

You will experience the untouched nomadic culture of eastern Tibet, visiting remote Buddhist monasteries and spending time with some of the local people along the way.

This is an authentic wilderness experience – during the ride there is no vehicle support and accommodation is a combination of camping and Tibetan family homes.

Contact Fran on 01953 497210 or email francesplume@worldhorsewelfare.org for more information. Alternatively, download a brochure and registration form from the bottom of this page.
