Braveheart: the story behind the sculpture
Shetland Pony Braveheart was found living in very unsuitable conditions in a neglected state. He thrived in the care of the team at our Belwade Farm Rescue and Rehoming Centre and came to really enjoy having a groom and going for walks in hand. Braveheart has been successfully rehomed and his design shows his plucky and courageous nature.
The design inspired by Braveheart's story
The artist: Frances Plume
Fran won the World Horse Welfare staff competition to design Braveheart. She works in the fundraising department organising equestrian events and challenge rides, and looking after our supporter fundraisers. She has ridden and had horses all her life and is currently busy showing and competing with her daughter and their New Forest pony, Marli.
