Meet our marathon runners

Every year we hold places in three runs - the Virgin Money London Marathon in April, the British London 10K in July and the Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon in October - and we're hugely grateful to those who take on these events in aid of helping horses. This year's runners are listed below and would really appreciate your support!

Marathon runner Anna Hammond

Anna Hammond – vet for our Glenda Spooner Farm Rescue and Rehoming Centre

Anna says:

"As many of you know I’ve been involved with this charity for some time; we see all sorts of upsetting neglect or abuse cases coming in but the turnaround is amazing. It would be lovely if you could give a little to support their work."

Marathon runner Lottie Hing

Lottie Hing  charity supporter

Lottie says:

"My name is Lottie, I’m 20 years old and I’ve wanted to run in the marathon for a few years now! I’ve been riding since I was 5 and ever since then I have always loved and admired horses. I’m running for this incredible charity because I’ve had a connection with them since I was 7 and also, I hate to hear about all the neglected horses within the UK and across the world. I would really appreciate it if you could sponsor me and help this wonderful charity out!"

Marathon runner Matt Green

Matt Green – World Horse Welfare Design Officer

Matt says:

"Following last year’s challenge of running in all the 10ks, mud runs and a half marathon, I thought it was time to test myself properly in aid of this great cause! I'm taking part in the London Marathon in hope of raising even more money to help horses in the UK and around the world. Even just a few pounds can make a difference to a horse in need - £2 could help pay for vital veterinary treatment or £15 could help to pay for a complete set of tools for a farrier overseas."

Marathon runner Phil Newton

Phil Newton – charity supporter

Phil says:

"I took on last year's hottest-ever London Marathon for World Horse Welfare and am thirsty for more! I was a few minutes outside my target of a sub 4 hour marathon last year and am determined to reach that goal this year. My wife Vicki works in the International Department of the charity and we have rehomed World Horse Welfare Rana, who is very much part of the family."
