Patience is from Haiti

Patience is a working horse used to transport tourists to the Citadelle in the Cap Haitian, Haiti.

Patience is a working horse used to transport tourists to the Citadelle in the Cap Haitian, Haiti.

Patience often gets wounds on his back and corner of his mouth. As with many other equids, these wounds are caused by poor quality saddles and headcollars that put pressure and rub on their skin.

How has our project helped?

Patience’s owner brought him to one of our project’s clinics where the team were able to provide first aid to treat his wounds and teach Patience’s owner how to follow up on this care.

Patience’s owner came back to the next clinic to show the team the results – Patience was wound free.

The project is now working to improve the quality of saddles and headcollars so that these wounds can be prevented. Soon in Cap Haitian there will be well trained saddlers helping to improve horses like Patience’s comfort and welfare.
