Meet Choc

Choc is a delightful little mare with a really sweet nature. She had a very bad start in life so she prefers a quiet environment with a regular routine. Choc can suffer with breathing problems which means she does need her hay soaking and dust free bedding. Although she is generally a polite mare she can be strong at times so is better suited to an experienced adult handler. Choc gets on well with others in the herd and she avoids any squabbles. This little gem will make a welcome addition to any yard. Choc would make an ideal companion to a ridden horse, as she has the potential to be left alone for short periods, if introduced gradually.

Important stuff

This horse is based at Hall Farm, where we’ve been managing a strangles outbreak in some of our horses. They have been screened using guttural pouch lavage (the gold standard test), completed a full course of strangles vaccinations, and spent time in quarantine in a green zone paddock. They are now available for rehoming as part of our phased return to normal activities.

Choc can never be ridden or driven.

All equines in our centres are regularly assessed by a team of experts including a vet, physiotherapist and farrier, and these assessments have found that Choc is not suitable to be worked.

History

Choc was part of a RSPCA prosecution case in 2015. She was also found to be in foal on arrival at Hall Farm. Choc was recently returned from loan following a change in circumstances.
