Meet Buttons

Buttons is a very inquisitive youngster who is looking for his first home since coming to the farm. He would make a lovely companion and would enjoy a little daily handling as he matures. Buttons always comes over to explore and although just at the very beginning of his education, is now well established with all his basic tasks and with our vet and farrier for routine visits. He has been very friendly with our young and adult visitors, over the fence, so could make a lovely addition to a family. Buttons has spent short periods in a stable and is very happy, so long as he has a friend opposite him. We are looking for a home for Buttons where he can have equine friends to bond with, preferably one or more that enjoy a bit of a playtime in the field. Buttons is on restricted grazing and the home we are looking for would have ponies managed on restricted grazing such as a track system or strip grazing. As with many native ponies, a great way to keep his waistline under control is being off the grazing, especially during spring and summer, so alternative areas such as an arena or yard with enrichment would be useful and would be perfect to provide variety.

Important stuff

Buttons can never be ridden or driven.

All equines in our centres are regularly assessed by a team of experts including a vet, physiotherapist and farrier, and these assessments have found that Buttons is not suitable to be worked.

History

Buttons came in to our care in the Autumn of 2022 with several other ponies as part of a welfare case. He had not had any handling and was in very poor condition.
