Meet Quainton Covergirl (Darcy)

Darcy is looking for a non ridden companion home where she can settle quietly with other horses and enjoy retirement. She can live out 24/7 and although she lives with mares at the farm, she could live with a well behaved gelding if introduced gradually. If she were stabled part time, we would be looking for a home with large stables (14x14ft or over) or barn type areas so she can move around when in. Being a tall girl, Darcy will need a rehomer who is used to looking after big horses and as she can be a little sensitive at times, someone who doesn't mind if she pulls the odd face, usually just around a tickly spot. She is good to catch and lead to and from the field and is good with the vet and farrier. Darcy was diagnosed with mild navicular at the farm so must never be ridden or worked on the ground. She will also need to keep her front shoes on in a home in order to keep her comfortable. Grazing wise, Darcy will require some restriction in Spring and Summer to prevent her gaining too much weight. In winter, she may have more access to grazing or additional forage if needed. Darcy is better suited to a quiet home with permanent equine friends, rather than a busy yard.
Important stuff
Quainton Covergirl (Darcy) can never be ridden or driven.
All equines in our centres are regularly assessed by a team of experts including a vet, physiotherapist and farrier, and these assessments have found that Quainton Covergirl (Darcy) is not suitable to be worked.
History
Darcy came into Glenda Spooner Farm in July 2020 and started a thorough rehabilitation program with a view to restart work. Sadly, due to reoccurring mild lameness, Darcy was X-rayed and diagnosed with mild navicular disease. She has been retired from work and is enjoying spending time in the field with her equine friends.
