Horse welfare in the UK

rescueSome people think we don’t see many animal welfare problems in the UK but sadly, this isn’t the case.

We receive thousands of calls every year to our Welfare Line, which result in our team of Field Officers assessing nearly 2000 situations annually. For some of these, one visit is all that’s required, but each year our 16 Field Officers make hundreds of follow-up visits to situations they have been out to previously to make sure the necessary improvements are being made.

The Animal Welfare Act (England and Wales) and the Animal Health and Welfare Act (Scotland) place a duty of care on those responsible for horses. Find out more here.
