Meet Black Feather (Velvet)

Black Feather (Velvet) is a beautiful mare with a temperament to match. She is a lovely, sensible and willing lady who is good to handle and very polite. Velvet gets on well with others and exudes a sense of authority about her that earns her the respect of the herd. She seems to be automatically accepted as the natural leader without having to do anything to achieve that position. Velvet is not suitable to ride but with her wise attitude and lovely nature, she will be a welcome addition to any yard.

Important stuff

This horse is based at Hall Farm, where we’ve been managing a strangles outbreak in some of our horses. They have been screened using guttural pouch lavage (the gold standard test), completed a full course of strangles vaccinations, and spent time in quarantine in a green zone paddock. They are now available for rehoming as part of our phased return to normal activities.

Black Feather (Velvet) can never be ridden or driven.

All equines in our centres are regularly assessed by a team of experts including a vet, physiotherapist and farrier, and these assessments have found that Black Feather (Velvet) is not suitable to be worked.

History

Velvet came into World Horse Welfare as her owner was struggling to provide the care she needed.
