Meet Thestral

Thestral is a pretty pony who is ready to find her new home as a non-ridden companion. She originally came in as part of a large welfare case and was unhandled on arrival. Thestral’s groom had done an excellent job and with kind, quiet handling, Thestral's lovely nature shone through and she was successfully rehomed for a number of years. The way to Thestral’s heart is through her stomach and she will do anything for a treat! She would suit a quiet home where she will receive regular attention and be given the time to bond with her new handler. Thestral is good to catch and would stand all day in our barn to be pampered and fussed over by her groom. Thestral is well behaved for the vet and farrier. She is a lovely mare and deserves a loving new home where she will be spoilt. Thestral is currently living out full time and gets along well with all her field mates. She is a submissive mare when out in a herd and never causes any problems so will make a great companion pony. If she was given time to settle into a new home, she might be happy to be left alone in a stable while her field mates were away being ridden, but this would need to be introduced slowly. Thestral does need to watch her waistline as it expands very easily. Due to this she must be kept on restricted grazing, especially over the summer months, so would be suited to living with other good doers. If you think that bonny Thestral sounds like the companion you have been looking for, please apply online.

Important stuff

Thestral can never be ridden or driven.

All equines in our centres are regularly assessed by a team of experts including a vet, physiotherapist and farrier, and these assessments have found that Thestral is not suitable to be worked.

History

Thestral originally came into Belwade Farm in February 2020 as part of a large welfare case of cobs. The group were found living in unsuitable conditions and were unhandled on arrival. She was rehomed for a number of years before being returned earlier this year due to a change in her rehomer's circumstances.
