Meet Smudge
Smudge was entire and completely unhandled on arrival at Hall Farm. Smudge is a really kind, genuine boy who tries hard to do what is asked of him. As he tends to be a bit of a worrier he will benefit from regular handling to build his confidence, and he requires a sympathetic handler who will understand he needs time to process anything new. Smudge has been on a steep learning curve to catch up on the education he has missed in the past but he forms a good bond with his handler and looks to them for guidance. He will thrive in a one to one relationship. Smudge gets on well with all ages in his herd but as he was castrated late we would prefer for him to share with geldings only. Smudge could potentially be backed to ride in the future although with his anxious temperament he would need an experienced, small adult rather than a child rider. He would have a maximum rider weight limit of 8 stones. Alternatively Smudge could provide a valuable role as a non-ridden companion.
Important stuff
This horse is based at Hall Farm, where we’ve been managing a strangles outbreak in some of our horses. They have been screened using guttural pouch lavage (the gold standard test), completed a full course of strangles vaccinations, and spent time in quarantine in a green zone paddock. They are now available for rehoming as part of our phased return to normal activities.
Smudge could be worked in the future.
History
Smudge was a prosecution case.
