Edna

Meet Edna

Edna is a lovely young Icelandic mare looking for her new home as a companion with potential. Edna was initially rescued as part of a large welfare case, and she had a foal at foot though she was just 3 years old. She was unhandled but has since come on leaps and bounds with her training and has blossomed into a friendly little mare who is good to handle. While good with all of her basic skills, Edna is still inexperienced and can worry about her environment if it's busy or unfamiliar. We are looking for a rehomer who is experienced in handling young horses and who would enjoy spending time with Edna to build up her confidence. She will need restricted grazing with companionship and could stable part time in a quiet environment. In the future Edna could participate in in-hand work, learn to ride and lead or be backed to ride. Due to her poor start Edna will need lots of time to mature before being brought into work and will need to see a vet and physio to assess her capabilities once she is mature. If being brought into work, Edna will have a predicted ridden weight limit of 7.5 stone. Due to Ednas young age and inexperience, she will need to be able to safely travel loose to her new home.
