Sparkie
Meet Sparkie
Sparkie is as bright, cheeky and full of fun as his name would suggest. This striking pony is looking for a home as a companion. Sparkie retuned to us last summer and sadly due to a bad case of uveitis had to have his left eye removed. Despite only having one eye Sparkie has not changed in anyway and is still the happy, bold cheeky chap he was before. Sparkie unfortunately developed some lameness issues when he was in ridden work so is now looking for a home as a non-ridden companion. He is now much happier out of work and is loving life with his friends in the field. Sparkie is living out with other gelding's full time, but he has lived with mares before with no problems. This social pony loves to play so he may be a bit wearisome for a much older horse, he would prefer some field mates who will put up with his boundless energy and cheeky nature. There is never a day at Belwade that Sparkie isn’t playing or up to mischief, there is never a dull moment with him around. Sparkie is a very good doer so he will need a controlled diet to prevent laminitis and other associated health issues. He is best suited to living with other native types on restricted grazing. Sparkie is great to handle and is a very bold pony even with one eye; he adores coming in for a pamper and simply loves lots of attention. He can be a bit too cheeky on occasions and be strong to lead so will need a confident handler to keep on top of his manners. If you think this cheeky chap sounds right for your ponies, please apply online.
Important stuff
Sparkie can never be ridden or driven.
All equines in our centres are regularly assessed by a team of experts including a vet, physiotherapist and farrier, and these assessments have found that Sparkie is not suitable to be worked.
History
Sparkie arrived with a group of ponies that were a welfare concern. He was unkempt, but handled.
