Meet Verstappen

Verstappen is a handsome boy who is looking for a new home as a companion pony. He has come on amazingly well with his handling since arriving at Belwade farm and although a naturally shy gelding he adores his handler and takes a lot of confidence from them. Verstappen was unhandled prior to coming to the farm and has a spooky nature meaning that he is unsuitable as a child’s ridden pony and wouldn’t be happy to be handled by children. He is a loving, affectionate pony once he gets to know you and adores coming in for a pamper. Verstappen will need a bit of feed to catch whilst he settles into a new home but will soon come out of his shell and will do pretty much anything for a treat. He is a playful, sociable gelding who gets on well with his field mates. He was gelded late but doesn’t seem to be bothered about mares so could live in a mixed herd. Verstappen had a bad start to life and deserves a loving new home with other playful ponies. He is a good doer so requires a home on restricted grazing and will happily live out un-rugged so is well suited to the Scottish winters. Verstappen stands well for the farrier but can be a little worried about the vet so will need some reassurance from his handler. Important stuff

Verstappen can never be ridden or driven.

All equines in our centres are regularly assessed by a team of experts including a vet, physiotherapist and farrier, and these assessments have found that Verstappen is not suitable to be worked.

History

Verstappen came into World Horse Welfare care in April 2023 as part of a large welfare case of ponies. Verstappen was unhandled, in poor condition and entire on arrival at Belwade Farm. He has since been gelded and gone through his rehabilitation.
