Meet Jake

Jake is like a cuddly teddy bear! He is a gentle giant and a lovely pony to be around. He loves fuss and attention and his previous rehomer reported he was happy to be around children (although we would always recommend adult supervision). Although Jake is friendly around other horses he can be protective over his food and likes his own space to eat. He also tends to prefer geldings to mares. Jake will require strong electric fencing, ideally mains powered and 2 or 3 thick bands, as he will break out if he is hungry. Jake requires sun block on his pink nose to prevent it from getting sunburnt . Overall Jake is a lovely boy who makes a good non-ridden companion.

Important stuff

This horse is based at Hall Farm, where we’ve been managing a strangles outbreak in some of our horses. They have been screened using guttural pouch lavage (the gold standard test), completed a full course of strangles vaccinations, and spent time in quarantine in a green zone paddock. They are now available for rehoming as part of our phased return to normal activities.

Jake can never be ridden or driven.

All equines in our centres are regularly assessed by a team of experts including a vet, physiotherapist and farrier, and these assessments have found that Jake is not suitable to be worked.

History

Jake originally came into our care in 2006 as a signed over welfare concern. He was recently returned from loan following a change in circumstances. He had been in that home for 11 years where he was greatly loved.
