Meet Jacob

Jacob is ready to rehome as a non ridden companion. Jacob is a very sweet, friendly little pony who loves lots of fuss and attention. He can be a little sensitive at times, so would be better suited to a home where he will be handled by adults and older children. He is very good to catch, handle, groom, bath and for the vet and farrier. He isn't keen on needles, but it is manageable by giving him treats and bringing him out of the stable in to a more open space. He gets on well with others and will stay on his own in a stable while another pony is taken out, but this would need to be introduced gradually in a new home. Jacob has had laminitis in the past, so will need strict management when out in a new home. He is currently living on our track system and comes in during the day to soaked hay. Jacob is able to be lunged, loose schooled and go out for inhand walks to help with his weight and give him variety in his day. If you can offer Jacob a home, please apply online.

Important stuff

Jacob can never be ridden or driven.

All equines in our centres are regularly assessed by a team of experts including a vet, physiotherapist and farrier, and these assessments have found that Jacob is not suitable to be worked.

History

Jacob came to Penny Farm along with 6 other ponies in January 2019 after his owner could no longer cope. Some of the ponies were underweight and they were found living in unsuitable conditions. Jacob was completely unhandled and entire on arrival.
