Meet Meggy

Meggy is a lovely mare who can be wary of strangers to begin with. She will require an experienced handler who will give her time to assess anything new at her own pace. Meggy can get strong when she is anxious, but she is an honest, genuine mare. Once settled in a routine Meggy is very good to handle and will try her best to please. Meggy gets on well with others in the herd and tends to look to her friends for guidance. Meggy is used to living out 24/7 but she could stable for short periods if this was introduced slowly, hay was available and she had a friend close by to give her confidence. She would not be happy left alone. Meggy is looking for a small, quiet yard with a regular routine and slow pace of life.
Important stuff
This horse is based at Hall Farm, where we’ve been managing a strangles outbreak in some of our horses. They have been screened using guttural pouch lavage (the gold standard test), completed a full course of strangles vaccinations, and spent time in quarantine in a green zone paddock. They are now available for rehoming as part of our phased return to normal activities.
Meggy can never be ridden or driven.
All equines in our centres are regularly assessed by a team of experts including a vet, physiotherapist and farrier, and these assessments have found that Meggy is not suitable to be worked.
History
Meggy came to Hall Farm as a welfare concern
