Meet Zanzibar IV (Bess)

Bess is an older lady looking for a quiet retirement home to share with like minded friends. She has a beautiful temperament, is good to catch and very easy to handle in all ways. Bess is a polite mare with lovely manners who really enjoys a bit of pampering. Bess quickly became an integral part of her herd, with all of the herd members becoming very fond of her. When being led back to the field Bess can sometimes get a little strong but we feel this is easily manageable if her handler is used to bigger horses. Bess currently has hoof hardener applied as her feet are quite flat and soft . This does not affect her in any way in the field but a home with stony paths or a lot of uneven hard standing may not be the most suitable home for her. Bess is such a genuine horse and will make a welcome addition to any yard.

Important stuff

This horse is based at Hall Farm, where we’ve been managing a strangles outbreak in some of our horses. They have been screened using guttural pouch lavage (the gold standard test), completed a full course of strangles vaccinations, and spent time in quarantine in a green zone paddock. They are now available for rehoming as part of our phased return to normal activities.

Zanzibar IV (Bess) can never be ridden or driven.

All equines in our centres are regularly assessed by a team of experts including a vet, physiotherapist and farrier, and these assessments have found that Zanzibar IV (Bess) is not suitable to be worked.

History

Bess came into our care through our Horse Gifting In A Will Scheme. (Please see our website for more information about this scheme)
