Meet Memphis

Memphis is a beautiful bay mare who is looking for a new home as a companion. She is a lovely horse who adores her groom; she will come to call in the field and will always give a little whinny, especially if she's getting a treat. Memphis loves coming in for a pamper and likes to be spoilt with having a rug on in bad weather and over the cold winter months. Due to her size, she will need a confident handler as she was a worrier on arrival at the farm. Memphis was very stressed in small spaces on arrival and although this has improved greatly, she would like a home where she lives out and doesn’t have to be stabled. She was brought into work at Belwade Farm, but veterinary investigation found that she has sidebone in her front feet and arthritis in her hocks. Medication did not improve her intermitted lameness when in work however she is now sound and happy in the field with her friends. Memphis loves her field mates and happily mixes with mares or geldings. She will become stressed alone so will always need friends. Memphis is great for the vet, farrier and dentist; she requires her teeth to be done every nine months for her to remain comfortable. Memphis is lovely to spend time with, loves cuddles and simply adores attention; she will make a brilliant companion to larger horses. If you think that Memphis sounds like the right companion for your horses, please apply online.

Important stuff

Memphis can never be ridden or driven.

All equines in our centres are regularly assessed by a team of experts including a vet, physiotherapist and farrier, and these assessments have found that Memphis is not suitable to be worked.
