Meet Nemo

***Recently, a small number of young ponies at Glenda Spooner Farm have experienced cold-like symptoms and have tested positive for a bacterial infection called Strep Zoo. Therefore, due to temporary restrictions at this centre, we are unable to accept applications for this horse at the moment. This is a precautionary measure and we look forward to reopening applications as soon as we are able to do so. We appreciate your patience and encourage you to revisit this profile for updates.*** Nemo is a very friendly and inquisitive young gelding who is looking for his new home as a companion. He currently lives out 24/7 in a small group of geldings and is a playful and interactive member of his equine herd. Nemo can participate in in hand activities and would thrive in a home where he can learn new skills and be part of the family. Nemo is good to handle with all his basic skills, however as he is still inexperienced and having only recently been castrated, we are looking for an experienced rehomer who would be happy to continue with his education. He is good to stable and could stable part time in the right environment and while Nemo hasn’t learnt to be left by his companions yet, this is something he could learn with a rehomer who is able to give him lots of time to settle in and who would be able to teach him this skill slowly and sensibly. Due to some leg feathering, Nemo needs his lower legs kept trimmed short and washed as needed. He is still learning and growing in confidence with these skills and a rehomer who is happy to continue teaching him is a must.

Important stuff

Nemo can never be ridden or driven.

All equines in our centres are regularly assessed by a team of experts including a vet, physiotherapist and farrier, and these assessments have found that Nemo is not suitable to be worked.

History

Nemo came into our care after being found by the police in a ditch with no owner who came forward for him.
