Meet Jerry

Sweet gelding Jerry is looking for his new home as a companion after being rehomed for many years. Jerry is a real sweetheart who always comes over for a cuddle and a kiss on his nose and will fall asleep while he has a good groom in the field. Jerry is very good to handle when he is relaxed and in a routine, he finds change quite difficult so he will need a confident handler who is happy to give him lots of time and patience while he settles in. Jerry is good with other horses and really relies on them for confidence, so he is looking for a home where his friends are retired. He will need restricted grazing and prefers to be out as much as possible. Jerry can be worried about needles and has been doing really well with his desensitization training. He would blossom with a rehomer who would find enjoyment continuing with this and building a bond with such a special little pony.

Important stuff

Jerry can never be ridden or driven.

All equines in our centres are regularly assessed by a team of experts including a vet, physiotherapist and farrier, and these assessments have found that Jerry is not suitable to be worked.

History

Jerry originally came in to our care in July 2014. He had been looked after by the RSPCA for some months before being transferred to Glenda Spooner Farm. It was hoped that Jerry might make a ridden pony but unfortunately due to poor conformation and hindlimb weakness, he can only be rehomed as a non-ridden companion. He was rehomed successfully for many years and only returned due to a change in his rehomers circumstances.
