Meet Malcolm (Mighty Malc)
Malcolm is looking for his new home as a youngster. Malcolm had a really tough start to life and was found without his mum at just a few weeks old and was brought into the centre to be hand reared. On arrival he was terrified of any human interaction but has since grown up in a mixed herd of mares and other youngsters and has learnt all of his basic skills. He is now good to handle and is generally sensible and quite independent by nature. Malcolm's perfect rehomer would be a calm and knowledgeable person who has had previous experience with young horses and who would be happy to spend lots of time getting to know him and building a strong relationship as he can get frustrated if boundaries aren't clear. He will need restricted grazing and while Malcolm could eventually stable part time, this is something a rehomer would have to work on and to introduce slowly once he is settled in his new home. In the future, Malcolm has the potential to be backed to ride or drive. Any rehomer who wanted to bring Malcolm into work would have to have vet and physio assessments before commencing work once he is older. He has a predicted height of 12.2hh and will have a weight limit of 15% of his adult bodyweight at BSC 3 which we predict to be around 6 stone. Due to his young age Malcolm would need to be able to travel loose to his new home.
