We have run overseas challenge rides for twenty years which have covered many, many hundreds of miles all over the world. We have travelled to hugely diverse locations and given riders once in- a-lifetime experiences. Along the way some lifelong friendships have been made and many thousands of pounds raised towards our work.

However, many good things must come to an end. The pandemic has had a
catastrophic impact on the travel industry and many countries remain in
lockdown or with restricted travel arrangements, so organising any overseas rides would be extremely difficult, with great risk of cancellation and rising costs. As a result, we have had to make the very sad decision that we can no longer offer our overseas challenge rides to our supporters.

We would like to offer our sincere and grateful thanks to all the intrepid fundraisers and riders who have shaped the rides over the years and made them the unique and unforgettable adventures they became. Many became regulars, taking part in the rides year after year, and we are especially grateful to them.

We also hold regular pleasure rides in the UK and organised a return ride to the unique location of Balmoral Castle in Scotland by kind permission of Balmoral Estate on 26th May 2019. Please note that all horses taking part in our events must have had a flu jab within the last six months but not inside the last seven days. Any horse not showing a flu jab within the specified timeframe documented in their passport will not be allowed to take part.

On Sunday 11th November 2018 we held a Remembrance Ride on the beautiful Elveden Estate to commemorate the centenary of the end of World War One, with riders able to choose from six- or ten-mile routes and World War One-inspired dress welcome (but not obligatory!). We were delighted to have 114 riders turn out to mark such a special occasion and hope to welcome them all back again to future pleasure rides.

Please contact fundraising@worldhorsewelfare.org if you would like to find out more about our pleasure rides in the UK. You can also follow us on our social media channels to find out about future ride information.
