Meet Opal

Bonny wee Opal is ready to find a loving new family to call her own. She is an adorable Welsh pony with so much potential as a child’s lead rein/first ridden pony. Although Opal is very little, she more than makes up for it with her huge energetic personality. Opal came in as part of a welfare case and was always the boldest out of the group with a naturally nosey nature. She came on very quickly with her handling as she loves people and being the centre of attention. Opal is naturally brave and cheeky so will require consistent handling to not let her get too big for her boots. She is always the first pony to march up to people in the field as she loves attention and doesn’t like to miss out on anything interesting. Opal has taken to work like a duck to water and is happily lunging and going out on adventures on the long reins with her groom. She has had a walk and trot with the dummy rider on board and wasn’t fazed in the slightest. Opal has a brilliant temperament and should make a fantastic child’s ridden pony out in a loan home. She will need backed out on loan so will need an experienced family to bring her on; Opal has a maximum rider weight of 5 stone so is only suited to a small child. Opal is brilliant for all her basic handling and simply adores human company and coming into the barn for a pamper; she would stand all day for children to pamper but if left alone she likes to protest and will paw the ground. She behaves very well for both the vet and farrier; her groom has said that she will do anything for a treat and is great fun to spend time with. Opal has a rotated tooth which although doesn’t cause her problems, she will need 6 monthly dental check-ups to ensure she stays comfortable. Due to her size and type she gains weight very easily so is best living with other good doers on restricted grazing. If you think you could offer this cracking wee mare a new home where she will have a child to make a fuss of her, please submit an online application.
