Meet Drifter

Handsome gelding Drifter is now looking for his new home as a companion. Drifter is friendly and well mannered with all the people and horses in his life and is looking for a quiet home where he isn’t left alone and where he can live with other geldings on restricted grazing. Drifter has Equine Metabolic Syndrome (EMS), so it is essential that he has the correct management for this, ideally with minimal grazing and access to hay with other horses on the same management.

Important stuff

Drifter can never be ridden or driven.

All equines in our centres are regularly assessed by a team of experts including a vet, physiotherapist and farrier, and these assessments have found that Drifter is not suitable to be worked.

History

Drifter came into the centre as part of a prosecution case involving a large number of equines. Most of the horses were severely underweight with hoof and skin issues such as lice and rain scald. The owner was prosecuted and received a 10 year ban on all animals as well as a suspended prison sentence. On arrival, Drifter had been neglected for many years and was wary of people.
