Meet Pretzel
Pretzel was an unhandled foal at foot on arrival and was very worried, timid and nervous of human interaction. Once weaned Pretzel began a regular handling routine and is beginning to blossom and come out of her shell. Pretzel can still be a little shy to catch in the field, you may need to follow her round for a few minutes but she will then stop and let you give her a shoulder scratch. Pretzel is good to lead in on her own and as a pair with other good horses, and she is good to stable. Pretzel has now got used to the farrier and is good to have her feet trimmed. Pretzel is currently turned out with mares and geldings of different ages. She gets on well with all her field friends and tends to be lower in the herd dynamics, but doesn’t get bullied. Pretzel is continuing to grow in confidence and is looking for a home where she will be loved and someone will give her time to show her true personality. Pretzel is being rehomed as a non-ridden companion only. She will not be suitable to ride when older.
Important stuff
This horse is based at Hall Farm, where we’ve been managing a strangles outbreak in some of our horses. They have been screened using guttural pouch lavage (the gold standard test), completed a full course of strangles vaccinations, and spent time in quarantine in a green zone paddock. They are now available for rehoming as part of our phased return to normal activities.
Pretzel can never be ridden or driven.
All equines in our centres are regularly assessed by a team of experts including a vet, physiotherapist and farrier, and these assessments have found that Pretzel is not suitable to be worked.
