Meet Thora

Lovely Thora is now looking for her new home as a youngster. Due to her size and age, Thora is looking for someone with experience in large horse breeds, as she does not always know her own sheer size, so we feel it is best that she has someone that is experienced enough to continue her handling. As lovely Thora is a very large and young horse, we feel that she is going to need another year or two to mature before she can be introduced to ridden work. Thora is very clever and loves learning and interacting with people. She is very good to handle when given clear instructions. She is very good to catch and lead and will stand to be groomed. Due to coming in with very bad mites and sores, she can still find her hind feathers tickly at times but otherwise is very good to brush all over. Due to having sore legs and little training, Thora did originally struggle with the farrier, but due to hard work and a lot of clicker training by her groom, Thora is now doing well with the farrier and only needs a couple of sweeties to keep her occupied. She is not overly keen on the vet, especially with needles, but her groom has been working hard desensitising her and she is improving but she still need an experienced handler when she is being treated. As she is still young Thora doesn’t need her grazing restricted for the time being. She did get bothered by the flies this summer so she will need a fly rug over the summer months, and she is currently wearing a New Zealand rug in the bad weather. If you think that Thora sounds like the one for you please apply for her online.
