Meet Olive

Olive is a sweet natured mare with a sensitive nature. She is generally easy to handle once she is settled in a regular routine with a person she trusts. She gets on well with others in her herd and looks to them for reassurance. Olive is a sensible mare, although she can be reactive to sudden noise or movement. Olive has only one eye and people should make allowances for this when approaching or handling her from that side. As she had very little handling in the past, Olive initially found farrier visits very stressful. The grooms and farriers have worked hard to help her overcome this so we recommend she has her feet picked out daily to provide consistency. Olive will be best suited to a quiet yard where not much changes and with a rehomer who understands the sensitive Arab temperament. Olive is not suitable to ride but she will make a loyal and loving companion to others.

Important stuff

Olive can never be ridden or driven.

All equines in our centres are regularly assessed by a team of experts including a vet, physiotherapist and farrier, and these assessments have found that Olive is not suitable to be worked.

History

Olive was part of a group of Arab horses who came into us after their owner was unable to provide the care they needed.
