Meet Sky

Sky is a very bonny wee highland pony who is looking for a home as a youngster. Sky is very bold and confident for her age and adores attention from her groom. Her favourite thing in the world apart from food is having her muzzle scratched. She mixes well with all her field mates and is a hardy highland who will happily live out all year. Sky is still growing so can live on a decent amount of grazing but due to her type will need a home where her grazing can be restricted in the future; she is estimated to reach 13.2HH. She was very malnourished on arrival at the farm and had poor front leg conformation, her groom did daily physio exercises with her which has helped strengthen her while she has been growing. Sky does have a scar on her left hind leg from an old injury however this has never caused her any issues. She is a typical young highland pony who will need lots of consistent, confident handling out on loan. Skye will need someone experienced with youngsters and is not suitable for a novice or nervous handler. She is generally good to handle however can become strong and worried in new situations or if there's lots going on around her so needs reassurance. Sky will happily stand in a stable if she has hay but due to her age would be worried if left completely alone. She is good for the farrier but can sometimes become impatient, she is strong to hold for the vet so will need someone confident. Skye is a Houdini when it comes to fencing so must have a home with secure mains electric, so she stays where she's meant to. If you think Sky sounds right for you, please apply online.

History

Sky came into World Horse Welfare care at the beginning of 2026 with four other ponies as part of a welfare case. She was living in unsuitable conditions and was underweight on arrival.
