Our popular webinars are kicking off again at 7pm UTC +1 on Wednesday 15th October, starting with equine ethologist Renate Larssen explaining how owners can read their horses’ body language. This winter’s webinars have a ‘How to’ theme and will provide practical, accessible advice, covering topics from training for veterinary procedures and travelling to how to assess a horse’s welfare. With a Q&A at the end of each webinar, it’s a not-to-be-missed chance for owners to get their questions answered by experts – for free! Places for the body language webinar can be booked here.

“In this series of Welfare Wednesday Webinars, we’ll be covering a variety of ‘How to’ topics, with one webinar a month,” says Rebecca Boulert, our Education Officer. “We’re delighted to be welcoming a range of experts this winter, including vets, yard owners, and equine behaviourists. After hearing our specialists’ insights, viewers will have a chance to quiz the speakers at the end of each webinar, so this really is an amazing opportunity to access expert advice for free.”

The webinars will start on 15th October and run monthly until March, with each starting at 7pm and lasting 75 minutes. The topics and speakers are:

  • 15th October: ‘How to read your horse’s body language’ – with equine ethologist Renate Larssen
  • 12th November: ‘How to train a horse for veterinary procedures’ – with vet and lecturer Holly Lenaghan
  • 3rd December: ‘How to set up a track system’– with yard owner and author Amy Dell
  • 14th January: ‘How to provide a stabled horse with the 3 Fs’ – with vet and animal behaviourist Amber Batson
  • 11th February: ‘How to train a horse to load and travel’ – with equine behaviourist Justine Harrison
  • 11th March: ‘How to assess horse welfare’ – with equine welfare PhD candidate and editor of Horses and People magazine, Cristina Wilkins

Anyone who misses out on watching a webinar live will be able to catch up with it afterwards – along with the 68 other free educational webinars that we’ve run – on our Welfare Wednesdays page.

Help end this suffering
