Meet William

William is an adorable wee skewbald gelding with lots of character. He can come across a little shy for new people but don’t let him fool you as he soon comes out of his shell and is straight up wanting a scratch in the field. William likes a treat to catch, sometimes also insisting a scratch on the neck, he is then great to handle and come into the barn for a pamper. If he’s not getting lots of attention when he’s in, he can be a bit of a fidget when tied up. If he comes in with his friends, he stands perfectly. Due to being part of an unhandled welfare case on arrival he will need someone experienced to take him on loan and ensure he keeps his good manners. William behaves well for the vet, farrier and dentist. Once he gets used to a new handler, he is extremely friendly and is like their shadow following them around the field, he certainly loves attention. William does get very attached to his friends and will run around the field if any of them leave. He is so fond of his groom that he comes over when called for a cuddle and scratch. Due to his type, he will need to live with other small ponies on restricted grazing and only suitable to live with geldings. If handsome wee William sounds right to join your ponies please apply online.

Important stuff

William can never be ridden or driven.

All equines in our centres are regularly assessed by a team of experts including a vet, physiotherapist and farrier, and these assessments have found that William is not suitable to be worked.

William came into our care in December 2021, he formed part of a large welfare concern consisting of over 35 equines. Most had received little or no handling.
