Meet Showman

Showman is a very striking Welsh pony who is looking for a new home as a companion. Showman as his name suggests likes to be the centre of attention and be fussed over. He loves people and other horses; he is all round a lovely gelding with a very endearing personality. Showman will stand nicely to be brushed and likes a pamper from his groom. He can sometimes look at his headcollar like he’s never seen one before and then catches perfectly so someone who is willing to understand him would be perfect. Showman is hard not to like, and we think the first person to come and see him will want to take him home. He loves a belly scratch and is often seen playing with his field mates. Showman has been very good with our younger ponies and likes to take them under his wing so has a very nice nature. He was gelded later in life so is not suitable to live with mares however is not overly dominant with other horses; he would much rather have an easy life. Showman gains weight easily so needs a home on restricted grazing with other good doers. On arrival he had a locking stifle which has improved greatly however he was not able to stand up to work so is happily living life as a companion. Showman had a sarcoid removed from his chest before coming to the farm and does have some on the inside of his hind leg which will need monitoring out on loan. He is a hardy pony and happy to live out full time; once settled into a home he may be suitable to be left in a stable while his friends were being ridden. All equines in our centres are regularly assessed by a team of experts including a vet, physiotherapist and farrier, and these assessments have found that Showman is not suitable to be worked.

History

Showman came into World Horse Welfare care in December 2025 as part of a welfare concern.
